A. THE CALL TO GET READY – Isa. 40:3a
The call is in two fold and to two categories of people:
1. The first call is to those who have never prepared the way at all before – Isa 40:3b
2. The second part of the call is to the ones who had previously prepared Him a way but whose way (of life) has become crooked: Isa 40:3c
Where do you belong among the two? Identify where you are like Adam knew he was naked…
B. THE COMMITMENT TOWARDS GETTING READY – Isa 40:4(KJV, NLT)
There are as diverse as four calls to each one of us if we would get ready for the soon coming King Jesus as contained in this verse.
1. Fill Up the Valleys: Isa 40:4a (NLT) - Bridge the gaps between you and God and between you and other persons. It is a call to reconciliation.
2. Level the Mountains and the Hills: Isa 40:4b - These calls for dealing with obstructions that wouldn’t allow us relate with God rightly. It also deals with mountains of unconfessed sins, transgressions and iniquities that wouldn’t allow us see God’s face. It also deals with the things we exalt above God. – Ps 38:1-8
3. Straightening the Crooked Curves: Isa 40:4
This is a call unto restitution and restoration – Ezek 33:14-16. Remember the example of Zacchaeus the tax collector.
4. Smoothening the Rough Places: Isa 40:4
This deals with the removal of stones of offences, whatever may cause stumbling and offences in relationship between you and God and between you others. It is a call to higher Christian living where our lives no longer become a rock of offence to others. Rom 14:14-19, 1 Cor 8:9-13
C. RESULT OF PREPARATION: The manifestation of God’s glory – Isa. 40:5
CONCLUSION
The reason for celebrating Christmas is not just for fun alone but also to remind us that "as sure His first coming, so also His second coming. Therefore be prepared. HAPPY CELEBRATION
