CULTIVATING CHAMPION’S MENTALITY - 1 SAMUEL 30:9-26

INTRODUCTION

Being successful is much easier than knowing how to maintain the success. Every champion who gets to the top is able to stay there because he learns to cultivate the right mentality. People may walk out of your life but one thing that you must never allow to walk out is your hope. Your hope must not die!

The Mentality That Every Champion Must Cultivate:

1. CHAMPION LEARN FROM THE MISTAKES OF OTHERS – Vs. 11-20

When David met the Egyptian that was tired and left behind by his master, the Amalekite, he did not want to make the same mistake the Egyptian master made by leaving the servant behind. He learn from the mistake of the servant's master. "It is expensive to make mistakes but profitable to learn from them".

"Many don’t learn from the mistakes of others and mess up their lives and destinies". It was the servant the Philistines left behind that showed David their route. Hence, David did not leave the man behind so that he does not fall into the same error. "The best way to teach is to learn from experiences".

2.  CHAMPION MELT BITTERNESS IN OTHER PEOPLE’S LIVES – Vs. 21-23

David’s men told him not to share the spoil with those who did not go with them. Those men was trying to pump vengeance to David’s life. However, David did not listen to their counsel. "Be careful the kind of people you surround yourself with. People who will not give you right counsel according to the heart of God stay away from them".

Words that will melt bitterness in others at times are not reasonable or acceptable. "Champions don’t create bitterness but melt it".

3. CHAMPION PROMOTES AND PROTECTS TEAM SPIRIT – Vs. 24

David had evil men, trouble makers and the rest in his camp yet, no segregation. He was the leader of the good, the bad and the ugly, yet he promotes team and not divisive spirit among them. Despite the fact that Judas was on Jesus’ team, the Master just continue His ministry.

"Don’t allow those who are not going anywhere derail you from fulfilling your destiny" your future is much more important than to allow any frivolities to slow you down.

A wise man says, “The eyes of the wise are always in their future because that is where they would live. But the fools on the present and failure on the past” Don’t allow the present to destroy your future.

4. CHAMPION SHARE SUCCESS WITH EVERYONE – Vs. 26

After David fought, he said “the victory belong to us”. David did not forget those who are with him. He shared everything among the people including those who did not go with him. "Share the goodness of God in your life with others including those who do not deserve it".

When God blesses you, it is not for show off but to spread it around.

- Do you still remember those who have done good to you one way or the other to arrive at where you are?
- Do you still remember your parents? Do you still remember that your uncle or aunt somewhere?

Our world is full of ungrateful people. We have people who easily forget where God picked them from.

- How many wives still remember their husbands?
- How many husbands remember their wives?

As a leader, do you give everything you have to the success of your team and relax because you are not the one leading? You are never a success until you have a good successor.

Conclusion
Your attitude will either multiplies friends or enemies for you.
