TEXT: 2 PETER 3:17-18
INTRODUCTION
One of the areas God wants us to make progress is in our spiritual life.
God does not want us to remain babes. There must be a consistent spiritual growth after someone has given his life to Christ.
Peter, in his epistle enjoined every child of God to keep growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord.
To grow in grace means to increase in the spirit of conformity to the will of God daily and to govern our conduct.
To grow in grace means to become more like the Lord Jesus Christ from whom we receive all the grace we need.
There is no crime starting your spiritual journey, but a great crime to remain on the same spot and not growing.
What to do to keep experiencing undeniable spiritual progress are:
1. CONSTANTLY FEED ON THE WORD OF GOD – 1 Pet. 2:2
The Word of God is not a bread for special occasion but for all times.
2. CONSTANTLY MEDITATE ON THE WORD OF GOD – Josh. 1:8; Ps. 1:1-3
3. ENGAGE IN PERSONAL AND DAILY SPIRITUAL CHECK UP –2 Cor. 13:5
The same way a man would go to the doctor for routine check- up, so also, every child of God must conduct self examination to prove his quality and determine whether he is still in faith.
4. FLEE UNHOLY ALLIANCES -Ps. 1:1; Jam. 4:4
5. LIVING A DISCIPLINED LIFE – 1 Cor. 9:27; Rom. 8:13
Every athlete that wants to perform better must be disciplined. Without which he cannot be the best and cannot win the title.
6. CONSISTENTLY FELLOWSHIPPING WITH OTHER BELIEVERS – Heb. 10:24-25
The church is God’s “nursery” for the care and feeding of Christians; the God ordained environment that encourages them to grow.
We grow best in a loving family. A baby needs a family for protection, provision and affection.
7. DEPEND ON THE HELP OF THE HOLY SPIRIT – Jhn. 14:16
