UNDERSTANDING YOUR PURPOSE AS A REAL MAN, REAL HUSBAND AND REAL FATHER.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR PURPOSE AS A REAL MAN, REAL HUSBAND AND REAL FATHER.

 TEXT: PSALMS 82:5

INTRODUCTION
The greatest enemy of man is ignorant of self.
Nothing is more frustrating than not knowing who you are and what to do with what you have.
Every real man, husband and father must understand their purpose in that light.
Without understanding, life is an experiment, and frustration is the reward.
Our text denotes that men are ignorant and blind to God’s principles and lack of the understanding of the principles that regulate function and operation brings about frustration and failure.

In the world today, we have many men, many husbands but Real Fathers are very scarce.

WHAT IS UNDERSTANDING?
It is the knowledge and comprehension of the original purpose for a thing.
It also means the knowledge of the principles by which the thing was designed to function.

The Purposes of Real Man, Real Husband and Real Father

1. HE IS THE SOURCE – GEN. 2:7
God the Father is the source of ALL things. As the source, the REAL FATHER received breadth from God and can only create or generate same in the children.
This was lost in Adam but received back through the second Adam- Christ.
Therefore, a father without Jesus has nothing good to give because he is still carrying the gene of the Old Adam which has been corrupted.

2. HE IS THE SUSTAINER, NURTURER AND PROTECTOR
God the Father sustains, nurtures and protect what He created.
A Real Father sustains, nourishes and protects that which comes out of him like Father in heaven.
God does not sustain what He creates based on good behavior but on His goodness. Matt. 5:45
It is only the quality of sustenance that is dependent on one’s relationship with Him.
So, a Real Father is the one who produces something and then sustains it.

3. HE IS A TEACHER/HE TEACHES – GEN. 2:15-17
God gave Adam all the information that needed to be taught.
God the Father teaches the father so that he can teach his wife, children and upcoming generations.
Adam received direct instructions from God and not Eve.
God, therefore made Adam responsible for teaching the woman and all that comes after him concerning what the Father (God) said.

Abraham’s example:
Gen. 18:18-19
18 Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?

19For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.

The woman is a receiver and incubator. She gives to her husband as she received from her husband who is also her father.
If the Real Father does not fail in this responsibility, then godly lives will be produced.
Real Father, as a teacher would teach as he has received from the Heavenly Father. John 8:28

4. HE DISCIPLINES – HEB. 12:5-10
Discipline is not punishment. It takes teaching to the nest level.
It is one thing to teach a child, but correction and further instruction helps shape a child’s character.
Discipline, therefore, is training.
Prov. 22:6

KJVTrain up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Real father don’t leave the training of the children to the hands of the mothers though they have role to play.

Gen. 2:18, And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

So women are to support in the discipline.
A Real father is given the responsibility by God the Father to train and equip everything under his care, including his wife and offspring.
God the Father disciplines us, and fathers, like God, discipline their children.
When Real fathers train their children, they teach by example. It is then that their children learn by imitation.

5. HE CARES – GEN. 2:15; 1 TIM. 5:8
KJVGenesis 2:15And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it

KJV1 Timothy 5:8But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

NLT 1 Timothy 5:8But those who won't care for their relatives, especially those in their own household, have denied the true faith. Such people are worse than unbelievers.

To care for is to pay close attention to needs and meet those needs.
The word “provide” means to perceive before, foresee
2) to provide, think of beforehand
2a) to provide for one
2b) to take thought for, care for a thing

In other words, to care means that you calculate the next need of a person before they are aware they are going to need it.

Real father must set right priorities in other to be able to care for his family. Such a real father thinks of his wife first, his children second, and his job third.

CONCLUSION
What kind of man are you? What kind of husband are you? What kind of husband are you?
