THE ONE THAT THE LORD WILL HONOUR

THE ONE THAT THE LORD WILL HONOUR
TEXT: JEREMIAH 33:7-9

INTRODUCTION
Every man desires honour. Nobody wants to be associated with dishonor.
Appreciate this truth that true honour comes from God.
No matter how the world is celebrating and honouring a man, if it does not come from God, it is still lacking.
1 Chronicles 29:11-12 (NIV)
11 Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor,
for everything in heaven and earth is yours.Yours, Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. 12 Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all.

1 Chronicles 16:26-27(KJV)

26 For all the gods of the people are idols: but the Lord made the heavens.27 Glory and honour are in his presence; strength and gladness are in his place.
God is eager and ready to place a mark of honour upon a life and make him a celebrity on earth provided such a man is a able to meet His requirements and conditions.
Let me share few conditions you must meet if you are going to be a candidate for honour this month and beyond.

1. HONOUR GOD AND HIS SON –JOHN 5:22-23; 1 SAMUEL 2:29-30
You honour God when you walk in obedient to His word and ways.

2. BE CORRECTABLE – PROV. 13:18
NIVProverbs 13:18He who ignores discipline comes to poverty and shame, but whoever heeds correction is honored.
You must be correctable to enjoy DIVINE HONOUR.
Honour is far away from a man who does not yield to correction.

3. WALK IN THE HUMILITY OF HEART–PROV. 22:4; 15:33
NLT
True humility and fear of the LORD lead to riches, honor, and long life.

ESV. English Standard Version
The reward for humility and fear of the LORD is riches and honor and life.
KJVProverbs 15:33The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.
Humility comes from the Latin word humilis, which literally means low. It is the quality of being humble.
It is the correct estimation of yourself in the sight of God. It is very dangerous to walk in pride,
NIVProverbs 18:12Before his downfall a man's heart is proud, but humility comes before honor.

4. WALK IN THE FEAR OF THE LORD – PROV. 22:4; PS. 111:10
NIVProverbs 22:4 Humility and the fear of the LORD bring wealth and honor and life.
Ps. 111:10 KJV

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endurethfor ever.

To fear the Lord is to hate evil;
Prov. 8:13 KJV

The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
NLT

All who fear the LORD will hate evil. Therefore, I hate pride and arrogance, corruption and perverse speech.

5. WALK IN AND PURSUE RIGHTEOUSNESS –PROV. 21:21
NLT Proverbs 21:21 Whoever pursues righteousness and unfailing love will find life, righteousness, and honor.
Pursue righteousness always and you will find honour.
Righteousness in your neighborhood, office, where you are doing your business, etc.

6. BE READY TO SERVE – JHN. 12:26
KJVIf any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour
to serve here means, wait upon 1a) to minister to one, 1b) to wait at a table and offer food and drink to the guests,…

7. DO GOOD TO PEOPLE – ROM. 2:9-10
NLT Romans 2:9There will be trouble and calamity for everyone who keeps on doing what is evil-- for the Jew first and also for the Gentile.
10But there will be glory and honor and peace from God for all who do good-- for the Jew first and also for the Gentile.

Be a doer of good to people around you, especially to those of the household of faith. When you do, you are on your way to been honoured by God.
Galatians 6:10,
NIVTherefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
